Let the Restaurants Come to You!

Progressive Taste of Vermont – Feb. 28With a guest-chef list that starts out with local culinary king, Chef Robert Barral of Caf´ Provence, the Progressive Taste of Vermont promises to be the palate pleaser of 2010.

Beginning at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 28, guests will arrive at The Lilac Inn, where they will be treated to savory sensations provided in the localvore arena with Crawford Family Farm, Orb Weaver Farm, Blue Ledge Farm, Champlain Orchards, Lilac Inn, Vermont Sandwich Company, Wood’s Market, Neshobe River Winery and Lincoln Peak Winery.

At 4.45 p.m., after a sumptuous sampling of appetizers and wines offered at the Lilac Inn, guests will be transported by Horse and Wagon down Park Street to the Brandon Inn, where cuisine will be aplenty. Here, chefs from a long list of local and nearby hotspots will be dishing up courses beyond compare.

Who’s on the list? Café and Gourmet Provence, The Brandon Inn, Sully’s, Cattails, Plan-It Sheri Catering, The Storm Cafe, Huntington House Inn, Rutland Country Club, Inside Scoop, Brandon Falls Diner and Vermont Wine Merchant. Plus new names are being added daily.

Guests won’t want to miss out on a dip in the Chocolate Fountain or rhythms by musicians Kenny Cifone and Rob Zollman. Guests can also participate in a silent auction of creative gift baskets and a live auction (led by Barb Watters) of enticing gift certificates.

All proceeds for this crowning culinary event will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Brandon, which opened in 2009, serving 70+ kids daily through the summer. The club continues to serve 35 children a day, most of whom are also served supper each night.

As a seasoned chef and caterer, Sheri Sullivan says she’s thrilled to be a part of the Progressive Taste of Vermont’s evening’s lineup, which is certain to leaving a lasting (and delicious) memory with all attendees.

“The Progressive Taste of Vermont will be an enjoyable and satisfying evening for the stomach as well as the soul!” Sullivan said.

Tickets for the event are limited, selling for $50 per person at Carr’s and the Boys & Girls Club of Brandon.

Critical Update to the Selectboard

February 23rd, 2010 by admin

Note from Devon Fuller:

Hello
I am contacting you to respectfully ask for your help with my write-in campaign for the one year select board seat. Because of an error Mitch Pearl and I are both on the ballot for the three year select board seat. I believe that I can best serve our community in the one year seat. So I am asking for you to write me in as your one year Selectman on March 2nd 2010. I also would like to ask you to forward this to anyone you may feel would be interested in supporting me.
Thank you for your support.
Devon D. Fuller

P.S.
If you have any question or concerns please feel free to contact me. 247-3206

Please support Devon Fuller in his write in campaign. In his short term standing on the Select Board he has been an extremely active member. We have our public skating rink and a new push for an economic development director thanks to his efforts.

Brandon Committee on Culture and Community

February 21st, 2010 by admin

I’m Chairing a Brandon Committee. What’s the Committee’s mission? I’m having some trouble nutshelling it.

  1. Celebrate the town we choose to raise our family.
  2. Bring focus to Brandon’s strong community frame work
  3. Illuminate the pride the townspeople share about what makes Brandon great.

I’m still working on this your comments are welcome.

Brandon Chamber Meeting on the 3rd of February

January 31st, 2010 by admin

The Brandon Area Economic Development Committee will hold its first meeting at the Stephan Douglas house at 6:30 p.m. The agenda will include nomination of officers, discussion of a logical progression of the committee, discussion of sub groups plus an update from the select board. If you would bring any ideas or concerns you may have now is the time to get things started (or continued). Please come with your svleees rolled up and your mind open because this will be the start of some hard work.

This looks like an exciting time for the the town. I’m not sure there will be any “hard issues” but the time will be well served by some bright and passionate minds being put to the task of carrying the town forward in this difficult ecomomy.

Brandon Hosts Art in the Snow

January 23rd, 2010 by admin

Brandon’s artists and business and inns have gathered together to Create a Winter version of Open Studio weekend. I’ve seen a huge up-tic in the amount of people in Brandon this past weekend. The only explanation can be that after it’s 3rd year of earnest application Art in the Snow is really gaining traction. Many artists are opening their studio and demonstrating their craft, and Businesses are offering discounts on goods and services. I hope everyone has had a chance to enjoy this year’s celebration of Art Snow and Fun. Also this is another awesome site I built a template for. It’s being maintained by someone within the group now. I haven’t been able to help out on the project as much this year as in year’s past.

Come to Brandon to support our core Businesses and working Poor;). Here’s the short link to the  list of attractions from the site (http://www.artinthesnow.com/calendar.php)
